In 2001 he received the European Prize “The Breaking Barriers Award 2001 Design for All” and in 2003 the “Rotary International Prize for professionalism" for his tactile map patent and the activities of Happy Vision.
Happy Vision is owned by Federico Zonca. He was born in Bergamo in 1969 and suffered from re t i n i t i s pigmentosa from the age of six.
Federico Zonca set up the Happy Vision company to implement the ideas stemming from his experiences as a visually impaired person and to introduce them to a public as broad as possible.
Federico Zonca is qualified in optics at the age of eighteen and then worked in his family's optics company. Despite the disease that made him go blind, he concentrated on developing aids for the partially sighted and unsighted.

He is also a sportsman who has taken part competitively in judo, skiing, and sailing. He is also a member and promoter of the “Homerus association - sailing for the visually impaired", a sport that he presented at the 2000 Sidney Para Olympics in order to introduce it to the whole world and have it adopted for the next Olympic games.
